  • 500 grams of chicken breasts, cut into pieces
  • 1/4 cup of soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup of mirin (sweet rice wine)
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • Sesame seeds (optional), for garnish
  • Chopped green onions (optional), for garnish

Instructions:

    Step 1
  • In a bowl, mix soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and grated ginger.

  • Add the chicken to the marinade and stir to ensure it is fully coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or preferably overnight in the refrigerator.

  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade, reserving the marinade, and cook the chicken in the skillet for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until golden and cooked through.

  • Add the reserved marinade to the skillet and cook over medium heat until the sauce reduces and slightly thickens, about 2-3 minutes.

  • Serve the teriyaki chicken over hot rice and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, if desired.
