Bacon is one of those ingredients that many of us love to incorporate into our dishes, whether for breakfasts, salads, or even as an appetizer. Frying bacon may seem like a simple task, but finding a way to achieve that crispy, delicious texture without the excess grease that usually accumulates can be a challenge. Today, I’m sharing a straightforward method to achieve crispy bacon using an air fryer, an increasingly popular tool in kitchens.
The first step to cooking bacon in the air fryer is to choose the type of bacon you prefer. You can go for regular bacon, smoked bacon, or a healthier option like turkey bacon. Depending on your preferences, the cooking time may vary slightly.
It is advisable to cut the bacon slices into portions that are the appropriate size for your air fryer. If the slices are too large, you can cut them in half or into thirds to fit them easily in the basket.
Before you start cooking, it is recommended to preheat the air fryer to a temperature of 200 ºC (392 ºF). This will help the bacon cook evenly and achieve that crispy texture we all desire.
Once preheated, place the bacon slices in the air fryer basket. It’s important not to overcrowd the basket, as this can affect the circulation of hot air and, consequently, the bacon will not cook evenly. If you have a large amount of bacon, it’s best to cook it in several batches.
Cook the bacon for 8 to 10 minutes, checking halfway through to make sure it doesn’t burn. If you prefer your bacon crispier, you can increase the time to 12 minutes, but always keep an eye on it to avoid burning. Halfway through cooking, it’s advisable to check and flip the slices for more even browning.
One of the advantages of using an air fryer is that it significantly reduces the amount of grease that accumulates. However, it’s important to remove any excess grease that may gather at the bottom of the basket during cooking to prevent it from burning or producing smoke.
Once the bacon has reached your desired level of doneness, remove it from the air fryer and place it on a plate covered with paper towels. This will help absorb any excess grease and allow the bacon to cool slightly, maintaining its crispiness.
Frying crispy bacon in an air fryer is a simple and quick process that not only guarantees a delicious result but is also healthier than traditional methods. With these steps, you can enjoy perfectly cooked, crispy bacon at any time.
