Mix the warm milk with the yeast together with a teaspoon of sugar and a teaspoon of flour, let it rise until a sponge is made.
Step 2
Place the flour in a large bowl, together with the pinch of salt, sugar, eggs, lemon or orange zest, orange blossom water and the yeast. We integrate all the ingredients very well (use the mixer)
Step 3
Then we add the butter in ointment and continue mixing.
Step 4
We flour the countertop and remove the dough from the bowl, continue kneading with our hands (trying not to add more flour because otherwise the hard dough will come out) until we get a smooth dough, forming a bun. Cover and let it rest until it doubles in volume.
Step 5
Then we make the thread we can make a big one or two small ones. If we make two we divide the dough into two rolls, we make a cylinder
Step 6
We connect the two ends and place the threads, on a baking sheet with parchment paper. Let it rest until it doubles in volume. We paint with beaten egg
Step 7
Bake in a preheated oven at 170 degrees for about 15 minutes. We check with a toothpick.
Step 8
We prepare the custard.
Step 9
Heat the milk with the vanilla essence and in another container that we will take to the fire. Add the cornmeal, sugar and yolks. We mix everything very well over a very soft fire.
Step 10
We are adding the milk, very carefully without stopping stirring until it thickens, in the end we add a teaspoon of butter. Let it cool
Step 11
Place the pastry cream in a pastry bag.
Step 12
Decorate the cake with the pastry cream, add the rest of the decorations we like, egg, chocolate, etc.
