This delicious dessert, inspired by the flavors of the Argentine region of Bariloche, combines a sponge cake base with layers of chocolate and cream that will make your mouth water. It is a perfect cake for special celebrations or simply to treat yourself at any time. Its preparation is simple, but the result is spectacular. Let's begin!

Ingredients

  • 200 grams of dark chocolate
  • 200 grams of butter
  • 200 grams of sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 200 grams of wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 300 ml of cream
  • 100 grams of icing sugar

Instructions:

    Step 1
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a cake tin.
  • Step 2
  • Melt the chocolate and butter in a heatproof bowl, either in the microwave or in a double boiler. Mix well until creamy.
  • Step 3
  • In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until foamy and doubled in volume.
  • Step 4
  • Add the chocolate and butter mixture and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  • Step 5
  • Sift the flour and baking powder together and fold into the chocolate mixture until well combined.
  • Step 6
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared tin and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.
  • Step 7
  • Cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then remove from the tin and cool completely on a wire rack.
  • Step 8
  • For the cream, beat the heavy cream with the icing sugar until stiff peaks form. Once the cake has cooled, cut it in half and fill it with half of the cream. Use the other half to cover the cake.
