Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Three-Milk Mixture:
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Topping:
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • Fresh fruit (strawberries, kiwi, or peaches) for garnish

Instructions:

    Step 1
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Step 2
  • In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Step 3
  • Separate the egg yolks from the whites. In a separate bowl, beat the egg yolks with 3/4 cup of sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in the 1/3 cup of milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the egg yolk mixture, mixing until smooth.
  • Step 5
  • In a clean, dry bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.

  • Gently fold the egg white mixture into the batter until well combined.

  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  • While the cake is baking, prepare the three-milk mixture by combining the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, whole milk, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract in a bowl. Mix well.

  • Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool slightly.

  • While the cake is still warm, poke holes all over the surface using a fork or toothpick.

  • Slowly pour the three-milk mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

  • Before serving, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Spread the whipped cream over the cake and garnish with fresh fruit.
