  • 4 catfish steaks or any firm white fish
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup coconut water or plain water
  • Chopped fresh cilantro and green onions for garnish

Instructions:

    Step 1
  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sugar and cook until it melts and turns golden brown.

  • Add the sliced onion and sauté until fragrant.

  • Carefully add the fish sauce, soy sauce, and black pepper. Stir well.
