Preheat your oven to the broil setting.

In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the scallops and cook them for 1 to 2 minutes on each side until they are lightly browned. Remove them from the skillet and set them aside.

In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Sauté the chopped garlic and parsley for about 1 minute.

Sprinkle the flour over the garlic and parsley mixture. Mix well and let it cook for 1 to 2 minutes.

Pour the dry white wine and heavy cream into the skillet. Stir constantly until the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper.

Return the scallops to the skillet and combine them with the sauce.

Divide the scallop mixture into individual scallop shells or baking dishes.

Sprinkle grated cheese on top. If desired, add breadcrumbs for a crispy texture.

Place the shells under the broiler in the oven and broil for 2 to 3 minutes, until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
