Recipe of Golfeados
Vida Recetas Editorial
The dessert we present today is golfeados, a traditional Venezuelan sweet that conquers anyone with its flavor and texture. These snail-shaped buns, filled with papelón and white cheese, are the perfect accompaniment to a coffee with whisky malicia or to enjoy at any time of day. Their origin dates back to the Venezuelan Andes region, where they are made with simple ingredients that together create an irresistible combination: soft and fluffy dough, a touch of cinnamon, and the sweetness of papelón.
Why will you love them?
Golfeados are a dessert that stands out for its versatility: they are ideal for breakfast, snack time, or as a dessert after a special meal. Although their preparation requires a bit of patience, it is simple and rewarding. The dough is kneaded by hand, left to rest so the yeast can act, and then filled with reduced papelón and grated cheese. The result is a sweet bite, with a salty touch from the cheese that perfectly balances the flavors.
If you are looking for an authentic and traditional dessert, golfeados are your best choice. Dare to make them at home and surprise your family with this Venezuelan delicacy.

Ingredients
Directions
-
1
Place the cardboard over medium heat in a pot with approximately 100 milliliters of water, until it dissolves and forms a reduction that is not very liquid.
-
2
Grate the cheese finely and reserve the bread in a bowl.
-
3
Place the pre-sifted flour (leaving a little to use on the counter), salt, sugar, butter, yeast, water and mix well until all the ingredients are incorporated into a dough.
-
4
Add flour to a clean counter and start kneading until the dough has a smooth texture.
-
5
Let the dough rest for at least 20 minutes with a kitchen tissue on top of it, so that the yeast works and doubles in size.
-
6
After that time, we knead a little more to work the dough and remove the air acquired by the yeast.
-
7
With the help of a rolling pin, we flatten the dough to form a more or less even square, leaving 1 cm thick in the dough (before we preheat the oven to 180 ºC).
-
8
We place the cardboard all over the table except for the edges and when finished we roll it up on itself so that it forms a cylinder.
-
9
With the help of a knife, we cut small wheels of approximately 6 to 8 centimeters and then flatten them with the palm of the hand.
-
10
Place the fried potatoes on a buttered tray, put them in the oven for 20 minutes.
-
11
Take out the sauces, add the cheese and bake for the last 15 minutes or until they are golden brown.
