Ingredients

  • 250g dried salted codfish
  • 500g potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

    Step 1
  • Soak codfish in cold water for 24 hours, changing the water several times to desalt. Drain and shred finely.
  • Step 2
  • Boil potatoes until tender, then mash.
  • Step 3
  • In a pan, sauté onions and garlic until golden. Add shredded codfish and cook briefly.
  • Step 4
  • Combine codfish, mashed potatoes, eggs, parsley, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  • Step 5
  • Mix until you have a firm dough. Shape into small oval cakes.
  • Step 6
  • Heat oil in a deep pan. Fry cakes until golden brown, about 3 minutes each side.
  • Step 7
  • Drain on paper towels. Serve Bolinhos de Bacalhau hot with a side of aioli or hot sauce. Enjoy!
