Directions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 2

Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet and cut it into 12 even squares.

  3. 3

In the center of each square, place a teaspoon of plum jam.

  4. 4

To create the iconic star shape, make diagonal cuts from each corner of the square, stopping just short of the jam.

  5. 5

Fold every other corner of the square towards the center, slightly overlapping the jam.

  6. 6

Beat the egg and brush it over the pastries for a golden finish.

  7. 7

Place the tarts on the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 15-20 minutes or until they are beautifully golden and puffed.

  8. 8

Let the tarts cool slightly, and then dust them with powdered sugar.

  9. 9

Serve with a dollop of whipped cream and enjoy your homemade Joulutorttu. Hyvää joulua! (Merry Christmas!)
