How to Make Basler Läckerli
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a saucepan, heat honey and sugar until dissolved. Remove from heat.
- In a separate bowl, sift flour, cinnamon, and cloves. Add candied peel, almonds, baking powder, and lemon zest.
- Pour the honey-sugar mixture over the dry ingredients. Add kirsch. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
- Press the dough onto the prepared tray, shaping it into a rectangle about 1cm thick.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden. Remove from the oven, but keep the oven on.
- While still warm, cut the dough into small rectangles or diamonds.
- Return to the oven for a few more minutes to dry slightly.
- Once cooled, melt the chocolate and dip each piece halfway into the chocolate.
- Place on parchment paper to let the chocolate set.
