How to Make Rellenitos de plátano
Instructions
- Peel the ripe plantains and cut them into chunks.
- Boil the plantain chunks in water until they are soft and tender, about 15-20 minutes.
- Drain the cooked plantains and mash them into a smooth consistency.
- While the mashed plantains are still warm, knead them with your hands to form a smooth dough.
- Take a small portion of the plantain dough and flatten it in your palm.
- Place a spoonful of sweetened black beans in the center of the flattened dough.
- Carefully fold the dough over the beans to encase them completely. Shape it into a smooth oval or ball.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- Fry the stuffed plantain balls until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove the rellenitos from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- While they are still warm, roll the rellenitos in a mixture of sugar and ground cinnamon to coat them evenly.
- Serve the rellenitos de plátano as a sweet and satisfying dessert.
