How to Make Finnish Christmas tarts
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet and cut it into 12 even squares.
- In the center of each square, place a teaspoon of plum jam.
- To create the iconic star shape, make diagonal cuts from each corner of the square, stopping just short of the jam.
- Fold every other corner of the square towards the center, slightly overlapping the jam.
- Beat the egg and brush it over the pastries for a golden finish.
- Place the tarts on the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 15-20 minutes or until they are beautifully golden and puffed.
- Let the tarts cool slightly, and then dust them with powdered sugar.
- Serve with a dollop of whipped cream and enjoy your homemade Joulutorttu. Hyvää joulua! (Merry Christmas!)
