How to Make Japanese sushi

    Step 1
  • Rinse the Japanese rice several times until the water runs clear. Drain.

  • In a medium pot, combine the rice and water and let it soak for 30 minutes.
  • Step 3
  • Bring the rice to medium-high heat and let it boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 15 minutes.

  • Turn off the heat and let the rice rest for 10 minutes.

  • Meanwhile, combine the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan and heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.

  • Place the rice in a large bowl and add the rice vinegar mixture. Mix well.

  • Slice the salmon, tuna, avocado, and cucumber into thin strips.
  • Step 8
  • Place the nori sheets on a sushi mat and spread the rice on top. Spread the rice evenly over the nori sheet.
  • Step 9
  • Place the ingredients in the center of the rice.
  • Step 10
  • Roll the sushi mat around the sushi roll. Lightly squeeze with your fingers.

  • Cut the sushi roll into slices using a sharp knife.

  • Serve with soy sauce and wasabi.
