How to Make Naan Bread
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking powder. Make a well in the center.
- Pour the yeast mixture, yogurt, and melted ghee into the well. Mix the ingredients to form a dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it's smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rest in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into an oval or round shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
- If desired, sprinkle minced garlic and cilantro leaves on top of the naan.
- Place the rolled naan on the grill or skillet and cook for about 2 minutes on each side, or until they puff up and have grill marks.
- Serve your freshly made naan bread with your favorite curries or enjoy it as a tasty snack. Enjoy!
