How to Make Layered Cake
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a square or rectangular baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, condensed milk, and sugar until it becomes light and fluffy.
- Add the egg yolks one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Sift the all-purpose flour and cornstarch into the mixture, and then fold them in gently until the batter is smooth.
- Divide the batter into several portions, depending on how many colors you want for your layers. Add a different food coloring to each portion, creating a variety of colorful batters.
- Start by pouring one color of the batter into the greased baking pan and spreading it evenly. Bake it for a few minutes until it sets.
- Remove the pan from the oven and add another layer of a different colored batter on top. Repeat this process until all the batters are used up, creating distinct layers.
- Continue baking until the top layer is cooked and has a golden color, usually about 30-40 minutes.
- Let the Kue Lapis cool completely before slicing it into small, colorful pieces.
- Serve and enjoy your homemade Kue Lapis!
