How to Make Roll Cake
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 12x16-inch (30x40 cm) baking sheet, then line it with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until the mixture becomes pale and fluffy, which should take about 5 minutes.
- Gently fold in the flour, milk, vanilla extract, baking powder, and a pinch of salt until the batter is well combined but still airy.
- Pour the batter evenly onto the prepared baking sheet and use a spatula to spread it out into a thin, even layer.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cake is lightly golden and springs back when touched.
- While the cake is baking, lay a clean kitchen towel flat on the counter and dust it generously with powdered sugar.
- Once the cake is done, immediately flip it onto the prepared towel, peel off the parchment paper, and roll the cake tightly with the towel while it's still warm. Allow it to cool completely.
- Carefully unroll the cake, remove the towel, and evenly spread the thinly sliced guava paste over the surface.
- Roll the cake back up, this time without the towel, and place it seam side down on a serving platter.
- Dust the Bolo de Rolo with additional powdered sugar for a finishing touch.
