How to Make Apple cake with caramel
Instructions
- Mix 1 1/2 cups of warm water, sugar, yeast and melted butter in the bowl of a mixer, and mix until combined.
- Let it sit for 4 minutes until frothy.
- Add the flour and salt and knead until the dough is smooth and doesn't stick to the sides of the bowl.
- Remove from the bowl and form a ball.
- Place in a greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap.
- Let it rise until the dough has doubled, about 1 hour.
- In a large bowl, combine the apples, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, flour and salt.
- Add the salted caramel and mix well, taking care to cover the apple pieces evenly.
- Preheat the oven to 425° and grease a pan with butter.
- Divide the dough in half.
- Make rolls with the dough to generate the trellis half way out in a 12 by 12 inch circle, and place the other half covered in the greased bowl.
- Place the dough in a prepared cast-iron dish, taking care to leave a 3-inch border overlapped on the edge.
- Fill with prepared apple filling.
- Place the salted caramel chewy candies along the edge of the pan and wrap the superimposed pretzel dough around the caramel.
- Sprinkle with pretzel salt.
- Bake the cake for 55 to 60 minutes until the dough is golden brown.
