How to Make Stuffed Cabbage Rolls
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully place the whole head of cabbage in the boiling water. Boil for about 2-3 minutes, or until the outer leaves are soft and pliable. Remove the cabbage, drain, and let it cool.
- While the cabbage is cooling, in a bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, egg, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well to create the stuffing.
- Carefully peel the softened cabbage leaves, ensuring they remain intact. Place a spoonful of the meat and rice mixture in the center of each leaf and fold the sides over, rolling them up like a burrito.
- In a large, ovenproof dish, combine the tomato sauce and beef or vegetable broth. Place the cabbage rolls seam side down in the sauce.
- Dot the top of the rolls with butter, cover the dish with foil, and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cabbage rolls are tender and the sauce thickens.
- Serve the stuffed cabbage rolls hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley. Enjoy your delicious Polish Gołąbki!
