How to Make Spanish Bread
Instructions
- Combine warm milk, sugar, and active dry yeast in a bowl. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well and add yeast mixture, melted butter, vanilla extract, and eggs. Mix to form a dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Prepare the filling by combining breadcrumbs, sugar, softened butter, condensed milk, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
- Punch down the risen dough and divide it into portions.
- Roll each portion into an oval shape and spread the filling over the dough.
- Roll the dough to form a log shape, sealing the edges.
- Roll the filled dough in breadcrumbs for coating.
- Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
