How to Make Tonkatsu
Instructions
- Start by tenderizing the pork chops. Place each chop between plastic wrap and gently pound them to 1/2-inch thickness.
- Season the pork with salt and black pepper.
- Set up a breading station: Put flour in one shallow dish, beaten eggs in another, and Panko breadcrumbs in a third.
- Dredge each pork chop in flour, ensuring an even coat.
- Dip the floured chop into the beaten eggs, allowing excess to drip off.
- Coat the chop with Panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat (350°F/175°C).
- Carefully place the breaded pork chop into the hot oil. Fry for about 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Transfer the Tonkatsu to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Slice the Tonkatsu into strips or leave it whole.
- Serve hot with shredded cabbage, Tonkatsu sauce, and lemon wedges if desired. Enjoy your delicious Tonkatsu!
